Medical Coverage

Like cars, medical coverage comes with lots of options. DriveTime offers health plans that give you choice and flexibility, as well as resources for helping you choose quality care for the best possible value. Need help figuring it all out?

Three medical plan options

DriveTime offers three medical plan options—the UnitedHealthcare PPO plan (UHC PPO), the UnitedHealthcare high-deductible health plan (UHC HDHP) and the Surest Defined Copay plan (Surest Copay).

Choosing the right medical plan is an important decision. Take the time to learn about your options and select the right plan for you and your family. Here are some general differences between the three plans:

UHC PPO Plan
In-network preventive care is covered 100%
Higher cost per paycheck
Lower deductible
You can fund a health care flexible savings account (FSA)
UHC HDHP
In-network preventive care is covered 100%
Lower cost per paycheck
Higher deductible
You can fund a health savings account (HSA), which includes funding assistance from DriveTime
Surest Copay Plan
In-network preventive care is covered 100%
Mid cost per paycheck
No deductible
You can fund a health care flexible savings account (FSA)

Here is an overview of how coverage works for each plan, based on three key components:

1: Your Deductible

The amount you pay for medical services before the insurance plan will begin to pay.

Working with the right doctor—including a primary care physician who knows you and your health history—is one of the most important things you can do to maintain good health and wellbeing. UnitedHealthcare makes it easier to find doctors who are recognized for delivering quality, cost-efficient care with the UnitedHealth Premium® program.*

Premium Care Physicians are more likely to give you the care you need, with:

  • Fewer complications
  • Fewer do-over surgeries
  • Fewer unnecessary lab tests, MRIs, and medications

To find a Premium Care Physician near you, look for two blue hearts next to their name. UnitedHealthcare members visit myuhc.com or the UnitedHealthcare® app on the App Store®  or Google Play™ . Surest members visit benefits.surest.com or the Surest app on the App Store or Google Play.

*The UnitedHealth Premium program is not available in St. Louis, Missouri.

Have a map, plan ahead. Those are good ideas for road trips—and health care. The emergency room (ER) is the right place to go in a real emergency, but that’s not always the level of care you need. For everything else, you’ll save time and money by exploring your options—including Teladoc®, where you can see and talk to a doctor online, anytime. Compare your care options below so you know where to go.

Teladoc

($0; all plans)

If you are enrolled in our medical plans, DriveTime provides 24/7/365 access to licensed physicians through Teladoc at no additional cost. Make an appointment with a physician right from your phone or computer and get care without leaving your house. Get started on the Teladoc website.

Ideal for:

  • Sore throat
  • Cough/cold
  • Rash
  • Pink eye
  • Bladder infection
  • Many other minor conditions
Primary Care Physician

(UHC PPO: $20 copay; UHC HDHP: 10% after deductible, Surest Copay: $10 – 65 copay))

For care during normal office hours, it may be best to go to your primary care doctor. He or she knows your health history and can provide follow-up care or refer you to a specialist, if needed. Save money by selecting a Premium Care Physician.

Ideal for:

  • Routine checkups
  • Immunizations
  • Preventive services
  • Condition management
  • Non-urgent medical issues
Urgent Care Center

(UHC PPO: $75 copay; UHC HDHP: 20% after deductible, Surest Copay: $35 copay)

Urgent care centers typically don’t require an appointment and are often open in the evenings and on weekends. In-network urgent care centers are faster and much less expensive than the ER.

Ideal for:

  • Severe vomiting or fevers
  • Cuts or burns
  • Sprains and strains
  • Non-emergency illness or injuries
Emergency Room

(UHC PPO: $250 copay + 20% after deductible; UHC HDHP: 20% after deductible, Surest Copay: $350 copay)

In the case of a true medical emergency, go to the ER. At the ER, true emergencies are treated first and other cases must wait—sometimes for hours. And, it will cost you a lot more to get care at the ER.

For true emergencies only, such as:

  • Possible heart attack or stroke
  • Uncontrollable bleeding
  • Major burns or fractures
  • Severe allergic reactions
  • Difficulty breathing
